What type of tranny is in the 1985 Cherokee Pioneer with the 2.5 4 cylinder?

    Does anyone know what type of tranny is in the 1985 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer with the 2.5 4 cylinder? I called Jeep and their books only date back to 2006. Parts store says a turbo 400. I don't think that is correct. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Welcome! Jeep used some parts from the GM parts bin back then but doubt the Turbo 400 was paired with the little 2.5

    If it's an Automatic it looks like the Chrysler A904 was the only auto trans for the 2.5 liter.
    If it's a manual then it could be one of three trans depending on if it's a 4 speed (Borg-Warner T-4) or a 5 speed (Borg-Warner T-5 or Aisin Warner AX5).
