Well considering selling my wrangler and getting a xj again. My Jeep has been burning oil. Can smell it burning at redlights. I’ve had a couple people look at it over the past few days and no one has a idea yet on why it’s doing it no wet spots no nothin. So you guys think it’s worth it to keep dumping money in to it. Or just say screw it and get a new one? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well things must be pretty grim at this point on the mystery oil consumption. The XJ is a good jeep model that can meet the needs of your family assuming you find a good one as that generation of jeeps are getting older and likely have high mileage. I'd suggest test driving another JKU 2012 or newer with the stronger 3.6 for more reliable jeepin. Your current JKU doesn't have signs of oil leaking so you should do fine if you trade up.

I'm a huge fan of XJs. Was my first that broke me in to Jeep. But as aggrex stated. Finding one with low mileage is virtually impossible to find. Not to mention. Cancer free. $7500 for a 17 year old XJ IMO. Is kinda steep. You can drop a remaned Jasper motor in your JK for bout $5000 and less if ya drop it in yourself. I know, still kinda steep. But you get a warrantied motor. That you know will last. Question is....Is your JK worth it? Other mechanical issues..rust??

BTW.....you fix that rusty bumper yet dude.
