Currently have a 2018 JKU with the 3 piece hardtop. My buddy has a 2017 Rubicon with the same hardtop but has the ragtop in a box in his trunk. They just gave it to him without charging. I’m wondering if hat would fit my Jeep. He will give to me for a killer price. I am getting tired of taking my T-tops on and off every other day. My question is does that box have the framework in it? I don’t see the metal framing in his jeep when I look inside. Just the roll bars or body frame.
The box is in his garage and he doesn’t want to open it. Just wants it gone.

Is it a factory jeep top? Do you know if it comes with the door surrounds? They do make tops that are frameless but they still need the door surrounds.

Yes factory top. Gonna have to open the box to see. It’s a big box like 3 1/2 feet long by a foot wide and high. I have to see if it has any serials on the box. He drove it out the dealership with it packaged up. Factory sunrider top For $300 ain’t too bad.

What would the door surrounds be? I mean, don’t the the full doors come with rubber insulation around them already?

Since he has 2017 rubicon wouldn’t that be a JL?? Maybe it won’t fit my Jk.
Sorry for the ignorance but it’s my first Jeep.

No it doesn’t mean it’s a JL. If it’s a 17 then it’s a jk. When you take your hard top off there is nothing for the rubber on your doors to seal into. 3326CD49-EE35-47A2-857F-952E1CB81DFC.jpg I don’t know if the factory top comes with them or not. I had to buy these to put my soft top on.

I agree with Squatchy as the box needs to be opened and inspected, but typically if the jeep comes with the hard top there are no surrounds involved as the hard top has the surrounds integrated into the design. Matter of fact, there should be either 1 or 2 boxes with the full soft top set up. Frame work, header, fabric, sports bar brackets etc, inspect the box & your jeep as some hardware could have already been installed on your jeep as well as his. In other words, he might have the tubing hardware, fabric etc in the box, but the brackets may be attached to his sports bars.

Yeah just looked in the box. It’s just the material part. Still would need the tubing/brackets and surrounds.
Oh well, just gonna have to deal with the on and off of the T-tops.
Thanks guys for the help and info.

Well if one can hang in there till next spring (there abouts) As we're giving away our 2017 unlimited soft top, it would include all of the hardware, but not the surrounds. The only stipulation is that you have to pick it up when we arrive in GA sometime next spring.

I would say it’s worth it knowing what they go for new.

The rear window is slightly mared cause we,'ve been rolling it up during good weather, but all windows are tinted. One may or may not have seen why we,re going to GA this spring. LUND international has invited us to their warehouse. Once there, we,'ll have their team install the Rampage trailview truck conversion top.

Thus the reason why we,re giving away our soft top. Stick around as i,'ll keep you posted if you want it.
