    Nothing real constructive lately... :bored:

Got tired of the crap stock halogens and got some LED headlights. Man what a difference and so far no RFI.
However, if the key is on the lights will glow even with the light switch off as there is 7.72 volts going to the lights and that is enough to make the LEDs glow dimly. If the lights contained a resistor like the CANBUS lights do this wouldn't be an issue, also a common upgrade is to install a headlight harness that includes relays and pulls power directly from the battery rather than through the switch as it currently does....this upgrade would also fix the glowing. As it is the glowing isn't hurting anything and I won't get pulled over for not having my headlights on. I do plan on upgrading the harness as well but even without these lights are great. Will definitely be putting some on my project XJ as well.

    Did a little flexing today...
Would be a 951 ramp travel index if it was on a 20° ramp. 1000 on the ramp is perfect, back tire touching the front of the ramp. IMG_20180325_124441.jpg IMG_20180325_124550.jpg

"Installed" a Ram Mount phone holder in the daily XJ... I know, big mod.... but hey I had to break out the drill. :D I do like it though.

I also installed an Ironman4x4fab steering box brace.
Apparently there is a rare steering box casting that causes a clearance issue with one of the clamp tabs.
    ironman4x4fab.jpg

Andy said he has only seen this one other time. Nothing a little grinding won't take care of since I already had the grinder out as I had to clearance the front lip of the brace to clear the front receiver hitch that uses two of the same bolts per side.
Even though the front cross member is slightly bent by a previous owner the brace still installed without much fuss.
Can't wait to get this XJ back on the road.....getting closer.

Also have to give kudos to Andy who responded to my FB Messenger inquiry regarding the steering box clearance issue on a Sunday. I sent the message not expecting a response until Monday, but within minutes he got back to me.

Loading it up to go camping with some friends of mine. No cool trails or anything, just some camping, setting up portable ham radio stations, fishing, etc.
