Howell fuel injection, header, HEI distributor, TH350, NP208, SOA lift with YJ springs in the front & GW springs in the Rear. AMC20 with G2 1 piece chromos trussed, Dana 30 with G2 chromos and 760x ujoints and MM Stainless Hubs, Geared 4.56. Tom Woods shafts, Metal cloaks, Caged, 37" Toyo MTs.
So I was running through some ads looking for parts for my CJ6 that I have plans on building when I ran across this 1994 YJ with 78000 miles. The PO decided to take the axles and cut all the brackets off in performing a SOA lift. For some reason he opened the pumpkins quit working on it and left everything open in the weather for a year. There is some rust around the wheel wells and windshield and in the open pumpkins. Just needs paint and to be put back together, so I bought it like a rescue dog to prevent it from being parted out.

Last week I found a set of YJ axles with 3.73 gears in them. A vast improvement over the stock 3.07 gears that came with the jeep. Now I can run 33s easily. The rear teeth are chewed up. Pinion bearing disintegrated. Probably ran it dry. Waiting on new parts to rebuild it.

Does anyone have pictures or diagram of how the vacuum is run on the front axle of a 94yj. I've never seen such a contraption. It looks like there is a vacuum slot on the t case as well. I bought this in pieces so not exactly sure on the routing.

Will the TJ shafts slip right in? I assume if they do just cap the axle hole with a plate where the vacuum plate is. I'm not interested in sinking a bunch of money into it. I just wanted to give it new life and back on the road. I have 2 other projects that I'm working on. This jeep just had too much to offer for me to let it be parted out.

    Yes, they slip in...
Front driveshaft will spin all the time, sometimes you get a vibration from shaft just have it balanced and all is well

Thanks I've been looking into that. Took me 6mo to get it off the trailer. Hopefully over spring break I'll have it mechanically ready. Then the interior and paint.

Richard. Now I see how you know so much about the engine diagnostics. I bet you have one of these sets that I just got in the mail. Started reading powertrain diagnostic procedures. Can't wait to get started.20170210_204430.jpg

The YJ or the manuals. I love them both.

On another note. I have the rebuilt axles installed with 3.5in lift. Started to install the transfer case and noticed that the PO did not give me the front output yoke or the nuts to bolt to the tranny. Installed SYE kit. Ordered new windshield frame and yoke. Will take some pictures next trip to the shop and post the progress on here.

It's off the trailer, axles installed, tires on it. Now I have to figure out what is wrong with this t case the po said he rebuilt. Out of the jeep I can turn the input shaft and rear axle shaft when in 2 wheel drive. In neutral the front output shaft won't make a full turn without binding. In 4x4 nothing makes a full turn without binding. Something up with the front drive output shaft or other. Figure this out, drive shafts paint and clean up the interior and I'm done. 4 in lift, sits easily on 33x12.50x15s.20170222_190829.jpg20170222_190854.jpg20170222_190918.jpg20170222_190938.jpg

Dang I am so glad that my friend George Cordero at G&S Autoworks is such a good friend. He has agreed to paint the YJ for me. After a few knocks with a hammer on some suspected bondo patches that the POs have done he said I'm really going to owe him. Ordered some new body panels because he didn't have enough spare sheet metal lying around to finish the job.

Amazing what you can do with a hammer and some tinsnips.

Waz just lookin over some threads on other Jeeps. Saw this one. Brought to mind some thing my Mom said not to long ago. Why do you guys replaced the tires and rims first.

My Dad passed just over 3 years ago. He picked up a 1951 Ford pickup he was planning on rebuilding. And the first thing he did was replaced the tires and wheels. I tried to explain it's a Guy thing. We want nice tires and wheels.

Your build is coming along awesome dude. I'm subscribed. I'LL be checking back. Post more pics dude. It's a Jeep thing.

For me 2 of the old tires would not hold air, so it was a necessity thing. I have a hookup at Discount Tire so rather than waste money on trying to repair dryrotted tires I got these for under $500, but yeah New tires turns a hoopty into a nice ride.
