Nutter bypass

    hello all, I’d like to do a Nutter Bypass on my cj7, and although there are a meaty helping of videos and articles on it, I did a motorcraft 2100 carb swap on mine, and all the videos show for the stock BBD carb. So I’m curious if anyone knows if there is a different way to do it with my carb, or if a bypass is even necessary. I’m trying to bypass my oxygen sensor ignition control with it. Thanks.

    Howell fuel injection, header, HEI distributor, TH350, NP208, SOA lift with YJ springs in the front & GW springs in the Rear. AMC20 with G2 1 piece chromos trussed, Dana 30 with G2 chromos and 760x ujoints and MM Stainless Hubs, Geared 4.56. Tom Woods shafts, Metal cloaks, Caged, 37" Toyo MTs.
    The bypass is to get rid of the ecm. If you trash the current coil, distributor, and ignition module, and replace it with a HEI distributor you'll essentially be doing the same thing. You will also see a marked improvement in stable performance.

    I was considering doing that anyway. Then my question is will it make it so the O2 sensor doesn’t affect the ignition or will I have to still put all my emissions crap back together to make it run right. My O2 sensor is off of my jeep completely right now

    I have never installed a 2100. I take it straight to TBI. More reliable off road. The O2 tells the carb how lean or rich to run. When you switched to the 2100 did you hook up all of the wires from the old carb to it. I would think that none of the plugs would fit so you left them off, essentially disconnecting the carb from the ecm and O2 sensor. Sometime last spring there was a guy doing the exact same thing as you are doing. He took out the ecm and all associated wiring. Installed a new HEI. He hooked one new wire up wrong and it wouldn't run. It took him a couple of weeks 2 find the issue, but after all is said and done it ran better than ever. It is well documented in Jeeps.net. I will try to find it and post a link here. You should look for it too.
