I was going to suggest what several others posted. Pick up a Superchip. Just out of curiosity. Let us know what your mechanic tells you and suggests. Also, how much is he looking to do the work for.

Gotta hand to you guys. A female member we haven't offended and driven off yet.. :).Cool having you here Aletani. It's the members that make a site /forum good. And we have some awesome members. And you fit right in.

There's a guy on one of the jk pages on Facebook who is donating an aev procal for the cost of shipping because it's collecting dust on his shelf. Quite nice of him. I'll have to research how to best set it up or might take it to the mechanic for him to do it. 60% of the parking space of his shop is jeeps and most are highly modified or antiques.

I'll definitely let you guys know what the mechanic says. Everyone in the local jeep club has recommended him. Lol. We haven't gotten a price. He's just going to look stuff over and lmk what he thinks before we do anything besides reprogram.

He's also looking at our liberty which may have a failing bearing or u joint unfortunately. But this is the first issue we've had with it since we got it and we've put on 60k+ miles on it while doing routine oil and fluid checks and brake pads and new tires, ad nauseam.

Bob, 90% of my friends are nerdy males, this forum is quite normal for me. Lol and its always nice to know I can come here for advice and info and maybe some interesting dialogue along the way. Haha. Thank you for welcoming a tiny nerdy tomboy lady to the group. I'm sure I'll fit right in.

I gotta tell ya dude. Bad week at work. Boss on vacation last 2. This week things went to shit. Im 2nd in command. Do 2 jobs, but only get one pay check. Lol. It's all good. This site, and certain members made me laugh, think, and decompress. And as much as I hate to say this. Aggrex, Chris4x4, Billy1234, Bob, and Jeep Mafia Mama are a few of those members that make this site great. Urban cowboy, rc jeep, ohh. Who can forget OFFGRID. lol....who our thoughts and prayers are with you living in Houston.

And we have a bunch of new members. Prerunner, Aletani, and others. Sorry, just a bit tired to name more. That will help this site become the best forum for Jeeps on the Web. Well I have a retraction. Aggrex.....he seems to be our sheltered and troubled child here. And I hope we can nurture him into becoming a well respected member here. We have hope for you Aggrex. Hang in there. Lolllll. :annoyed:

Be careful, the flashcal and what not can only be used on 1 vehicle. If he has already programmed his it will not work with yours.

Secondly programming a jeep is incredibly simple. Do not pay a shop to do it. The instructions that come with it are simple enough for a 5 year old. Save some money and do it yourself.

I have never run anything but hypertec and have always been happy with them. My cousin bought a superchip and wow the stuff you can do with it is amazing. if you're getting an AEV for free use it. I don't know how the other programmers work but I would think they are the same. Yes you can only use them on one vehicle, but with hypertec that is one at a time for example: I had a 2008 Ford F-350 installed a hypertec programmer. Traded the 2008 for a 2009 F350 but befor I did I set the 2008 back to stock settings and then used the same programmer on the 2009. I believe superchips is the same and I would think that the others would also be the same.

Do not be afraid to install your own programmer with you being a self proclaimed nerd it should be no problem for you if a jock like me can use it. They really are simple push and play computers.

Thanks off grid. I did build by build my own PC and what not, so it shouldn't be too hard. I appreciate the vote of confidence.
