Hey there, I have a 09 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4x4 with the 3.8L v6. I recently was trail riding in my Jeep and I went threw a hole I normal go threw and got stuck. It had just rained for like a week straight so the hole was a bit deeper than normal. After getting stuck I waited about 20-30 minutes before I got pulled out. In the meantime waiting to get pulled out my jeep cut off after about 15 or so minutes after being stuck. Needless to say it was deep enough to come all the way up to the seats on the inside of my jeep. After getting my jeep out I let it sit for over a week to dry out. I had water in my gas vapor canister, water in my oil and inside my cyclinders. I took the intake manifold off all my plugs out changed my oil( several times threw the process) and crunk my jeep over til I felt the cyclinders pushed all the water out. I ordered a new canister and dried my old one out til I get my new one. I put everything back together after that week of drying and I tried starting it. Unfortunately it would not fire and run by itself. My problem is somewhere with the fuel. I tested the fuel right before the fuel rail and I had excellent pressure. I treated and added gas before and after trying to start. Now my jeep will crank and run if I keep shooting it with starting fluid. So I've pretty much exhausted all my knowledge and known how on this thing and now I need help. Does anyone possibly know what could be causing my jeep not fire and stay running by itself? Please help, thanks everyone.

Sounds like possibly water in your tank and fuel lines. Drain the tank completely and put fresh gas in.

Follow OffGrid's recommendation for the next step. The big positive sign is the ability of the engine to crank+run with starter fluid since water was in the engine.

OFFGRID is pretty much our Head Mechanic. Lol. And we are grateful he is here. And hopefully, Harvey didn't hurt his future here with us. :)
