Rear locker blinking

    4 inch lift, 4.88 gears.
    I have a 2016 jeep rubicon. I went out wheeling Saturday and pushed the rear locker on. Now after all I've done i can't get the blinking to stop. I've been in 4 hi and 4 lo to get the light off. And yes, I've been pushing the up button to turn it off. I've gone forward and reverse in both 4 hi and 4 lo. Nothing. At the dealership now and the only way to get the light to quit blinking is to unplug it. Am I not doing something right?

    The dealer should be able to help. It is likely a sensor but there are a number of things which can cause the symptom. And, one of the lockers may just not be unlocking due to failure---but the sensors or activator are more likely. It should be handled through warranty (I assume) so let them get it done for you.

    As for using the locker. Your lockers only work in 4-LOW and at 10mph or less. The lockers do not work in 4 HI at all. If, when in 4LOW, you push the down (activate) button once you lock the rear axle...push it again you lock the front axle. If, when you have the front and rear locked you push down again, it will unlock the front. Hit the up button to unlock anything locked at the time.

    If this is what you have been doing, then you are doing it right.

    Note, in order for the axles to unlock, you need to have both wheels on an axle moving at about the same speed. So they do not unlock well when turning, for example. I have found that the front wants to be picky from time to time and I (while going slow and in a safe place) will just let go of the steering wheel for a moment and it will often steer in the direction it needs to unlock.

    Best practice is to lock BEFORE you loose traction and never lock the axles while spinning a wheel.

    Thank you for your input. I did all the above to unlock the rear locker. Light still flashing. We believe it is a sensor since it never felt like it locked. That is also the reason I drove it to the dealer and not towed it there. It still is under warranty. I was on crawl mode on my program and went thru a steep incline thru water. I didn't lock the rear locker until going back thru since it was a even steeper incline. As soon as I was on level ground I took it out of crawl and turned off locker , and went into 4 high. The light blinked when I let off the gas pedal and stopped blinking when I pushed on the gas pedal.

    I figured sensor. Hope that is all it turns out to be. WTH...It happens.

    Do yourself a favor and don't discuss using the programmer with the dealer. :)

    I had something similar on my old 08 shortly after purchase. It was a sensor sending false information. Quick and easy...never had it happen again on that rig in 55k miles. Never had that issue at all on my 12 with 80k on it. I use my lockers a lot for snow wheeling.
