    Looking for hard doors for 79 cj7. Also any ideas on why my 4wd won't kick in would help.

    Howell fuel injection, header, HEI distributor, TH350, NP208, SOA lift with YJ springs in the front & GW springs in the Rear. AMC20 with G2 1 piece chromos trussed, Dana 30 with G2 chromos and 760x ujoints and MM Stainless Hubs, Geared 4.56. Tom Woods shafts, Metal cloaks, Caged, 37" Toyo MTs.
    Make sure you get the doors with the antique looking handles. The newer flush mount handles have different latches and won't work.

    I've got a passenger door with the new latch and seems to work fine. Just need a driver side.

    I would guess that you have a newer tub on an older frame. The whole locking unit and handles are completely different and not compatible. Note the years associated with the handles listed below. At least you already know what fits.

    regarding your 4WD. Did you turn your hubs in on the front axles to engage the wheels? If so and still not kicking in, get it on jack stands and see if your front drive shaft is turning. If you are not locked in the front only one wheel will turn at a time.

    Locked the hubs but nothing works. Ill have to get it on stands and check the drive shaft for sure. If drive shaft isn't turning what's the next step in figuring out why?

    Being a 79 you should have a Dana 20, the predecessor to the Dana 300. They are both twin shift rod that are connected by a thin pieces of metal in front of and external to the transfercase. Make sure that these rods are connected by the linkage. If the linkage as come apart that would explain why you don't have 4WD. Driver side rod controls the rear axle and the passenger side rod controls the front axle. Also If you have a body lift you may need to cut your floor boards some in order to let the shifter move in its full articulation. You'll know this just by watching the range of motion with the dust shield removed. Have you made any changes that would have affected your 4WD?

    I haven't done any upgrades yet. That's all future plans. Just noticed the 4 wheel stopped working during our last big snow fall. Ill check all that out when it gets a little warmer. Really appreciate the help!
