I have a 2014 jeep grand Cherokee, that when I'm going down the road, it will randomly throw the car into neutral or park, when I get the codes, it's says something about the clutch and gear ratio. Should I just go for a new transmission?

Check ATF levels, observe for color changes, burnt condition, smell. Perform a drain and fill. The codes should provide guidance as to the problem. Transmission replacement should be the last option

So, upon further Inspection and a short test drive, I've managed to learn that when shifting in.and out of gear, you can hear a clunking sound and what sounds like a clunking dring while driving

I agree with Aggrex my first thought was low ATF that would make an automatic slip out of gear. The next thing based on this clunk sound I would look at the shifter not being full in sync with the trans so when you put the shifter in drive it is between gears the other is the shifter has a reverse lock out you may want to check on that.
