Did a little trail run over Labor Day...

 

Not sure if I posted these on this forum yet...but if I did here they are again anyway.

Pics from some storm spotting this last summer/early fall.

 

Too bad the summer is gone and all I got is this little souvenir pic from the last trek

 

Summers gone and I never once pulled on my transfer case shifter

 

Wintery snow storms are right around the corner. With another summer gone hope all is well for the upcoming season.

 

Was thinkin the same thing. So don't give up on "pullin on your shifter" just yet @TJ_abuser . I hear the Winters get pretty lonely your neck of the woods. Pullin on your shifter in the snow is just as awesome as on the beach.

 

Thanksgiving Day. It's not a challenging trail. But its fun.

 

Anyone been on the trails in Tennessee? Looking at going on Trail #26 & Trail #51. Going in late December so will I have to deal with snow?

Any suggestions on which parts to hit on those trails and if I’ll need to upgrade(Lift/Winch) the Jeep at all before going?

Hells yeah! I just don't get as much as I would like to anymore. Need to change that in a bad way.

Back in Post #7, C2T posted a trip to this same area, Dempsey Basin. These are from a 2019 trip.
Dempsey Basin is in the Flint Creek Range, west of Deer Lodge, MT. There is actually quite a lot more to Dempsey Creek than Caruthers Lake. Dempsey Creek is in the canyon.

A different part of the country for sure. I decided early in life that I wasn't going to live anyplace that didn't have mountains. Preferably mountains with few people. Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho best fit that criteria. At least for places in the lower 48.

The Flint Creek Range is pretty neat with a lot of lakes and some interesting trail. However, it's about 130 highway miles from our place and there are a lot of those interesting trails closer to home, including North Meadow Creek (Mckelvey lake is one of 9 lakes in that basin).

 

Some photos from yesterday's drive up the South Boulder River, primarily to see how far we could get with the much below normal snowpack this year (it doesn't bode well for smoke season). We made it up to the confluence of the East Fork without 4x4 mode but that was the end of it.
A couple of shots from Adkins/Carmichael Roads-a shortcut into the S. Boulder for us through Harrison (and Pony if you stay on the pavement). It avoids I90 use.
Tobacco Root Mountains. Hollowtop is the mountain on the Right. The old mining town of Pony is about 3 miles off to the left. Pony is worth a visit just for all the old Victorian buildings.




I take a photo of this place every year. It is sort of a contest to see if it will collapse before I do.
