Hi, I’m a newbie to the Jeep world, so forgive me for posting something that might have been discussed to death. I searched and couldn’t find any threads though. I have a Jeep project for the winter, an unmolested 2011 JK. The stock 225/70/16 tires on it make it look like a postal truck, so I’d like to change them. I have a chance to get a set of KM3s that are 265/75r/16. Would this be too big tire on a stock Jeep? I plan also to get some new wheels with a 4.5” backspacing, but I’m not too sure how this will work. Any advice, or photos of any JKs running this size would be appreciated!

The 265/75R16 are approx 31.5 and should fit fine as long as the 16" wheels clear the calipers. IMO look at 17" wheels as that is regarded to be a good choice for the Wrangler with a wide variety of brands/type to choose from. The 4.5 offset should push the wheel/tire combo out nicely.

Thanks aggrex, I saw a set of 17” rubicon recon take offs without tires that looked good, but I’m unsure about the backspacing on a stock wheel like that. I’m thinking they should fit, though, and I’d only need to add a 17” tire, maybe a 265/70 or a 255/70? I’m not looking for a super aggressive look, just a nice wheel, that sits close to the fender edge would be good. I’ll probably use a KM3 tire, or a Mickey Thompson.

17" OEM wheels have a 6.25 offset and should fit your jeep. That 6.25 offset only becomes an issue when moving up to bigger tires 33-35s. I'm currently using 1.5" SpiderTrax spacers with the OEM wheels which nets me 4.75" offset. Some jeepers like the aggressive look with the the tires peeking out a bit.
