Hi, newbie here. I've never in my life driven or ridden in a jeep. Never saw the inside of one but I always loved the rugged look. Last September, on impulse, I bought a brand new 2020 rubicon. I LOVE IT! I have so much to learn but never enough time and that's why I'm here. Thanks for adding me

Here's my story. Buying a jeep was a HUGE transition. In 2009 I bought a 2010 Camaro ss. I love to race. First one sold in my part of the state. Later, I traded that for a brand new 2014 convertible Camaro ss which I then traded for my jeep last September. I've always had OCD on cosmetic perfection of my cars & you'd never see them dirty inside or out. No joke, it was a for real problem for me. Let me tell you, refraining from that crap on my jeep has not been easy but I'm starting to chill. I let him get dirty and I no longer freak out if I see a finger print. It's a nice feeling. I feel much more relaxed. Took him up in the mountains last month where there were nothing but jeeps everywhere! I felt like such a puppy though. Lol. When I got home, not only was every surface inside and out covered in dirt and grit, I was too! I LOVE LOVE LOVED IT! However, the next 2 days were spent cleaning every surface and crevice with precision. Lol! Wax, armour all, ect. Got it spankin again! But hey, I did have fun getting it dirty and that's what counts, right? It's all still original, no mods as of yet. It'll take some time to give it the rugged manly man look that I'm going for. Ordered go rhino running boards and they'll be here next week. Can't wait! The best part of owning a jeep is finding out that jeep people are actually a breed of their own. I've come to learn that for the most part, jeep people are curtious, wave and act like people should act. I feel a kinship. Yeah, I'm really liking this.

That’s awesome I know where you’re coming from about the OCD part I’ve been that way most of my life the older you get the more relaxed you get. You realize what matters most.

    Life is too short.

I completely understand the nostalgia of owning a Jeep. In 2014, me & my wife were driving my 2000 Trans-Am from Apex to Mooresville NC. There was a couple in front of us with a Jeep and everything was off of it. I thought to myself, that Jeep has scratches, and other flaws but looks like fun. Keeping the black Trans-Am clean was a headache, and if you own a sportscar, it's a must that it looks good. So I looked online for used Jeeps that I could pick up cheap, and I realized that you couldn't find one (no matter how old) for under 10K. So I decided to get a fairly new one for 17K or so. Sold the Trans-Am and never looked back. On my 2nd Jeep now.

I will say, it would be nice if Jeep put a V8 in their engine bay, or at least a 6cylinder with a supercharger, as I do miss the TransAm power, but the 3.6 does have plenty of power to support front bumper, rear bumper, swing out tire carrier, winch, and 37's, as those are my mods.

    Welcome new Jeep owner!!!

Nice to see I'm not the only one. I know what you mean about the engine size. It's quite an adjustment going from a 6.2 liter V8 manual to a baby 2.0 turbo automatic. If you have American muscle, a V8 with a manual are a must. I know jeep people feel the the same about manuals but I got tired of shifting. I just want to drive. My husband was against me getting a 4 cylinder but when I test drove both the 4 and 6, the 4 cylinder turbo by far had more pep. But the electric high pitched buzzing sound of the engine compared to the deep throaty rumble of my Camaro was hard to get used to. It sounds like a police siren in the distance. I don't notice anymore but I do miss the rumble. As I've gotten older, 53, I decided it's time to get off the speed kick. I love the adrenaline rush but it was so hard to control and one of the reasons I got a jeep. It's not wise to play speed racer in a jeep. I just like to drive fast but I can feel how things could get out of control really quick. I want to avoid that infamous wobble. It's not something on my bucket list

For the rumble you could always drive on the shoulder :notsure:

Im 45, so I'm still young but no spring chicken. I don't expect to outrun a Vette on the highway, but V8 power for a heavyweight Jeep Wrangler isn't an odd expectation. Im happy with the 3.6, but I think it could be much better. If $$ wasn't an issue, I'd wager most on this board would swap out that 3.6 for a Hemi/Hellcat, but what would we do with the driveshafts and differentials after a month of use? More Jeep problems I suppose...
