Does anyone know if the stock radios have an internal amplifier or an external one? I want to replace my stock speakers with some kickers or JBL's, but keep the same size and put them in same stock locations. Don't know if I need to change out the stock amp for a better one, or if there is no amp and I need to add an amp. Going to keep stock radio, just replace stock amp or add one if there isn't one.

Since I have no sub, I was going to run line out convertor, and add a subwoofer and amp for the rear as well.

Thanks for any help or knowledge!!

The premium Alpine system is the only one with an amp and a small sub I do believe. When you replace the speakers you may want to add some poly fill in the speaker boxes. It helps with sound quality. I have the Kickers and they sound great with my new headunit. I had the touchscreen and it still sounds much better with my new Kenwood. I have an amp pushing the Kickers and a mono amp pushing my sub. Sounds great.

Check out Crutchfield.com as they can be a large resource of information on many brands of vehicles. They offer printed guides on speaker size and location as well as head unit / sub / amp upgrades. Might not be the best price but definitely a resource.
