Who Is Running 37's on their JKU? I have questions

This is my rig with 35's and 17" wheels and a 3.5 inch lift

 

I like the look of that! how do the Ridge Grapplers perform for you off road?

 

They are awesome!! They do really well on these Ohio hills and they sling mud just like any other M/T.

 

I had them on my pick up that I got rid of for the Jeep. I loved them, they spent most of their time on road for me tho. I got pretty good mileage out of them too.

 

Yea here anymore they stay on pavement. We've got a little over 30,000 miles on them now and they still look brand new. They are really quiet and smooth on the asphalt. When my tundra needs new tires I'm buying another set of ridge grapplers lol

 

I get it and I am with you. While I'd gladly sell someone 37's if they insisted, I like to know that they realize that there are ramifications down the road. I think a JK with alift and 35's is capable of far more than either of us would push our rigs to do.....just my two cents.

 

I really like your rig Alex. Aggressive, not over the top. Always liked your Jeep. One of my favorites here. Who's fender flares you runnin??

Those are bushwackers. I've been thinkin about buying the metal cloak front and rear quarter panels here lately. But idk if I'm gonna put anymore money into if I dont have to lol. If it ain't broke I ain't fixin it Haha

 

Hahaha I will lose 2 doors when my boys are old enough to drive and go do whatever they want lol. But until then I gotta stick with anything that has 4 doors other than a mini van lmao

 

Your right, in fact the stock Jeep will probably do more than I’ll ever need it to but I’m stubborn. Lol.

 

I know I'm a little late, New baby (a real baby) is here and I am starting a new company so I have very little free time. The computer is lacking. Thanks for tagging me @JKBob 25 for it shows who is asking about stuff I have experience in.

My JKU with 37s did well on and off the trail with stock breaks and rotors. Where you will see the most trouble, if you see it, will be brake fade when stopping quickly from high speeds on the highway. I would not waste money on drilled and slotted and upgraded pads. The best stopping pads are metallic, but they wear your rotors faster. Next is semi-metallic. Ceramic pads stay cool longer (less brake fade) and have less dust, but stopping power actually decreases. If I did any upgrade it would be to the Teraflex Big Brake kit. I did not upgrade mine until I went to 40s.

Congrats on the baby, and no worries on the timing. I’ll take all the advice I can get when I can get it. I did talk to a couple shops in my area and some friends with similar set ups and your post reinforces what they said to me. I think I will run the stock set up till I need to replace then jump up to the teraflex kit at least in the front!

I have a 17 JKU and if I did it all over I would stick to 35's. There will be MANY upgrades to run 37's, unless it stays on the pavement. I installed the Teraflex big rotor kit with Hawk pads. I didn't upgrade the mc as it didn't need it because it uses factory calipers. Unless you're doing some pretty serious off road or just want looks then 35's will be plenty of tire for the majority of people. You have to have at least a 17" wheels to clear the bigger rotor but it doesn't make a noticable difference in stopping or creeping down an incline.
