    am having trouble following all these topics at once - resident curmudgeon.

    could there be a update on its drivability - a new topic current issue you are working?

    Audio, Cat, compression topics are all open. I don't know where the focus is...

    Just posting and tackling everything i come across as i have time. My main focus is drivability and stabilty to and from work, without a decent running vehicle, im up shit creek without a paddle.

    Audio is figured out now except getting my settings to stay there after engine is shut off awhile but its the least of my worries...

    Cylinder 4 Compression Test / Combustion Chamber Cleaning, my only option right now is spraying distilled water into intake as engine is running to steam clean it (efficient and cheap)

    The catalytic converter im not too sure of yet other than the rattling coming from inside. Changing plugs and wires and cleaning cap to monitor engine power boost if any, ruling out the cat for low power.

    The bent sway bar...im on my way to it.

    The passenger front window not rolling down, i found 3 wires taped in the door hinges this morning.

    Kinda got put on the back burner for a job, they overbooked interviews and asked for my resume and said they were rescheduling interviews. I bought a pair of steel toe boots for $10 after pawning my sub system.

    I hate to be posting quick questions but TIME makes necessary -

    do you have a vacuum gauge?
    At local parts do they lend/loan tools?
    The compression tester was borrowed - still available? if needed?

    Water is effective -old school - trend is to faster working products like, combustion chamber/top end cleaners.
    Thats where I would go BUT water is free and easy, time and slow going.

    So plan B what is needed to make it dependable - get to work* church etc.

    * keep trying keep POSITIVE - were praying for ya. good karma

    Fiance is got paid so she's helping me with the seafoam, compression kit, and vacuum tester. I'll just keep these testers for future problems

    @Awrench Do I use the pour and spray or just the spray ? My main concern is the #4 cylinder though...how exactly do u recommend I do this ?

    Ideally - #4 pour a few ounces into cylinder - replace plug.
    Go about your other projects, this will be time for product to work (fingers crossed) - remember what I said about night time - (esp if the complex has neighbors with nothing else but complain) it will likely smoke a few minutes..
    Before dumping remainder in fuel, any engine ticks taps from lifters? Seafoam can be used to clean the varnish sludge from neglected engines - BUT we do that @300 miles before oil change. And I believe you just did oil and filter? Advise us on ticks and oil change confusion..

    Plan B for top end cleaning - we can feed seafoam into intake - and the spray makes it easy.

    The Seafoam spray, also should help with checking for vacuum leaks, as well as cleaning those parts we need to spray and clean... ie IAC. Have we mentioned IAC cleaning?

    Looking at the gauges the vacuum gauge would do a quick exhaust back pressure cat test - it shows PSI 0-20 and we want to see almost 0 but less than 3 - SO if the cat has you worrying that should help check it - remember that hose is not likely designed for lots of heat for a long time.

    chill the beer -get it done.

    Thank girlfriend for tools - before the girl gets home from work - Showered - wine cooled, clean linen you can figure out the rest.

    back at it - Sunday paper for job search .

    I like u already. I havent done a thing except replace the old wires with new ones (with new plugs gapped at .035) but now it doesn't fire up now, cranks but no fire. My Distributor doesn't sit like the diagram i have shows (Pics, straight front of engine), can you show me which direction this is cocked so i can find "1" (or point out "1") and go from there ?

    OK I'll pour a few I ounces into the #4 cylinder, let it sit overnight, then use the spray in intake tomorrow. Which pieces do I use to test exhaust pressure and how do I go about that ?

    Just bringing caution that water is not compressible and if excess amounts enter the combustion chamber bad things can happen. Look like your acquiring some serious tools for the repairs.

    Yea I thought about that, I shot maybe 6 straight sprays about 2 feet away into the plug hole yesterday... Weather here lately is an heat index of 110. Yes sir, I think I have the right tools and crossing my fingers.

    Wires are correctly in place, started twice and ran it. Threw in a couple to a few ounces of Seafoam Pour into Cylinder #4, threw the spark plug back in and the rest in the gas tank...now we wait, with beer lol

    OK only problem is I have to be at my job office by 6 or 7 tomorrow morning and to job site by 8. What's the earliest I can let the Seafoam sit in Cylinder #4 and get up and fire her up and add the Seafoam Spray into the intake?

    The cap is (from front of engine) cocked a couple of notches clockwise, leaving " 1" pointing towards passenger side valve cover. "1" is marked on the cap between its post and the coils post (middle)....this differs from both diagrams and is very confusing.

    Started the engine up and at first it wouldn't even turn over. After several attempts, she fired right up and ALOT of white smoke poured out of the exhaust pipe for maybe 10 min. Shut it off and shot the spray in with my gf holding the gas pedal and RPM's at 2 thousand. Shut off the engine to let it hot soak for 10 or more minutes...now I'm going to start and run it for 10 min with my foot on the gas some.

    Ok I'm finished and ran the engine for 10 minutes with the RPMS between 1,000-2,000, RPM's were slowly moving up to 2500 by itself with my foot steady from the 2,000 I set it on... assuming the engine is "coming back to life" or restoring after the double deep steam clean lol...or something I should worry about ? Check engine light didn't come on and the rattling has lessened. The oil pressure is above 40 and the dipstick shows damn near up to a little over 3/4 of the dipstick
