After scrapping the idea of one Jeep another jumped out to me after mindlessly looking around Craigslist. Again I’m very new to the Jeep game and trying to break into it(I got the itch) but I found this listing and seems very well modded out and maintained and frame just got repaired and looks pretty great to me! Only thing is 188k miles and he’s asking 9k. Just would like some input about the price / what questions should I ask. (Sorry for all the questions but any help would be greatly appreciated:) )

Here’s the link for reference w/ list of his mods

Never hurts to check the vehicle history thru Carfax.

I read his ad and checked out all the pics. If this thing is clean on Carfax the price is a steal if you're looking for a turn key modified TJ. Check it out closely, the price is actually almost too good to be true. If it is as it appears an appraiser for comprehensive coverage may put the value at closer to $20k.

I think those tires are retreads they are way too cheap not to be 160 bucks each for 33x12.5x15 mud tires? That seems fishy . Other than the tires I say take a chance

Nope they are brand new construction. Just don't understand how they are 50 bucks a tire cheaper than anything else not blantonly made in China

According to Kelly Blue Book, average mileage would be 118,000. That would bring it down to a typical private party selling price of about $7,312 in very good condition if it was stock. https://www.kbb.com/jeep/wrangler/2004/sahara-sport-utility-2d/?vehicleid=2841&intent=buy-used&options=111364|true|111399|false|111411|true|111432|true|111481|true|111519|false|111524|false|111534|true|6485751|false|6485753|false|6485755|false|6485756|false|6485758|false|6485759|false|6485762|false|6485764|false|6485766|false|6485768|false|6485770|false|6485772|false|6485773|false|6485775|true|6485777|false&mileage=188000&pricetype=private-party&condition=very-good But it's not. The question is, what kind of shape is the motor in and what is it worth to you? That's the problem in buying someone else's mod. They have put thousands of dollars worth of upgrades in it, but are those the ones you would want? If so, I would bring my little video camera that goes in the spark plug hole and at least take a look. I would also measure the compression. If he objects, don't walk away, RUN! JMHO
