Hey guys. Looking for a a little help here. I am getting some squealing noise from my rear tires. It’s mostly when I take off after it’s been siting overnight but I recently noticed it more in like a drive thru situation. I thought it might be break related but I drive stick and it happens even if I’m not sitting on my break. Any clue as to what it may be? I want to learn to fix my own shit so if I can avoid the shop that would be great. I know when I got it from the dealer the Jeep had been sitting for a while. I’ve had it since October and the noise has been going on for about a month now.

Noises from the rear tire area while in motion could be related to the brakes. Start by safely jacking up a rear tire, spin then perform a brake inspection.

I'm having a issue still with Squealing from mine as well. I inspected all 4 breaks and none are worn down enough to need changing. Still not sure why squealing but know it's definitely from the breaks.

I am going to check my breaks too but I got a feeling something needs to be greased down there. Like I said I’m no mechanic nor do I claim to be which is why I came to ask on this forum. Plus ppl have been nothing but nice to me on here so why not. I got screwed over by the dealer I got this JKU from and I don’t want them bending me over again. Keep you guys posted and thanks for the help.

Could also be your wheel bearings. I only come up with this idea because we just bought a truck at work that had been sitting for a long time. It was doing the same thing. Had a squeal coming from the wheel area. Changed pads and rotors and it still squeaked. Ended up being the wheel bearings needed some grease.

The wheel bearings in the rear are lubed by the oil in your diff, nothing you need to do other than making sure your diff is serviced when needed.

Brakes have a piece on them designed to "squeal" when they get low.
If you're running larger or heavier wheel/tires then it could also be a bent rear flange.
The rear flange is fine for stock, but can bend with additional weight and will cause the brakes to squeal.

Below are a couple of videos I shot when my rear flange bent:

    Good luck!!
