A buddy is selling me a teraflex flipped drag link at a good price but it requires drilling into the knuckle.

How would doing so limit my ability to change the drag link again in the future? Like putting the stock one back in case I sell the jeep.

Since there is drilling involved it may not be easily reversible.

Will the holes be drilled in separate spots?? Or will the holes be drilled half way between the existing and make a " figure 8 " shape? If the holes AREN'T touching/overlapping then I think you'll be fine. When holes are made in steel and they overlap each other, the points it creates makes a weak point in the steel which makes it easier to bend, twist, and warp out of shape through wear and tear.

The drilling is necessary to increase the diameter of the existing hole. There wouldn't be a new hole. Im wondering if doing so would limit me to certain draglinks only or even worst to just this one.

Just as an example installing the JKS flip drag link requires enlarging the hole in the knuckle then inserting a tapered sleeve.

Gotcha!! Let's say you did put your original drag link back on cuz you wanna sell... could you use a sleeve to decrease the diameter of the hole and replace the original hardware??

That might work since aggrex states the JKS draglink requires drilling + a sleeve. Only problem would be finding the right size sleeve.

I would like to see a website on those. I did find some online, but they were not the reversed type. The ones that I have on my CJ require welding and taper reaming.

Personally I'd just replace the knuckle if I switched back.

Keep in mind for a flipped DL you'll have to add 3" of bump stop to keep the drag link from hitting the frame, thus losing up travel.
Not worth it for most people (IMO)

Replacing the knuckle is a great idea.

Damn I didn't know I would lose up travel. I do a lot of crawling so that's probably not going to work.

I guess i'll keep the normal one with the dropped pitman. I was trying to get rid of the dropped pitman because I hear JKs have a weak spline on the gearbox.
