Was wondering if anybody has a superchips or Diablo programmer on there jeep or any other programmer? Trying to find which is better and more practical. Was looking for people who have them installed and what they tought. I wanted to know about the TPMS bypass and lockers lockable in 4wd hi. (Rubicon opt). Any help would be helpful. Thx

I have a Superchip Flashcal F5. It's your basic programmer. But it does the job. I recalibrated tranny and speedo for larger tires. Reset the factory TPMS idiot light to a lower psi, and reset daytime running lights. But, you can also adjust idle for running accessories. Read and clear codes. Lock Rubi lockers. Among other features. I like it. Well worth the cost.

Thanks JKBob 25 for the info. Do you have to leave the programmer plugged in after reprogramming? Does it need to be plugged in to use the 4wd hi range locked lockers?

I agree with @JKBob 25. I've got the same programmer and you can do a lot of cool things with it. I haven't really heard much about the Diablo tuner but I'm gonna imagine that it's gonna do just about everything that the superchips does.

You might have to leave it plugged in for certain applications but for everything I've done with mine it tells me to unplug it.

I just got the superchips also and recalibrated my speedo after going to 34s, it made a HUGE difference in drive-ability. I was getting around 14.5-15mpg before the calibration and now I'm at 16.5mpg. The only time you need to keep it plugged in is when you use it to engage the lockers in 4HI.

Agree with above members. Most applications you unplug it. I don't have lockers, so I'm sure the info given by @Nabdo is correct. I read up on most other programmers that cost 300 to $400. And they do the same reprograms. And alot of crap you'll probably never use. At 180 for the Superchip. It's a good deal.

Another thing about the 180 dollar superchips programmer... you can buy the update to have it do that same thing as the 300-400 dollar one. You can buy if from their website and do the update on your computer.

Good point dude. Forgot about that.
If I remember correctly. They do want you to update your programmer when you first go to use it, using your PC. And it does ask if you want to upgrade it. Forget have much they were asking for it.

Superchips and Diablo both belong to the same parent company, Powerteq LLC. You'll find they respond similar to each other.
AEV also makes a programmer that is arguably as good or better, but personally I don't like the dip switches on it and prefer the interface of the superchips.

I've used the Flashcal on a couple of JKs with no issues. I've never used the 4hi locker feature and wouldn't if you have factory axle shafts.

    Good luck

Thanks for the input. I called superchips and one person told me one thing about the TPMS and I called later and was told something different. So I ordered the AEV procal.

Do I need an unlocked ECM chip to use this?

    Yes, no, maybe.... :D

I think it's '16+ need the PCM swap if you doing a programmer with tune options.
If you're doing one for gears, tires, etc only then no PCM swap is necessary.

I bought the flashPaq f5 and like it a lot.

Diablo and superchips are the same company. They recommend superchips for the jk as it adds 35hp and 30lb, reportedly.

I like the crawl mode, daytime running lights, turning off TPMS.

I recommend using GPS to set the tire size. With 35s I set the tire size to 33.25 and the speedometer is spot on.

Does not have to stay plugged in.

Just got this for my 2018 jk. I bumped up to the stock 18s from the steel 16s. I was able to change the tire size and configure running lights for fogs. I’m on the 93 tune but don’t feel much difference. Might have to keep messing with settings.

IMO it is difficult to feel 35hp gains especially on a smaller motor with larger tires. You will more likely notice a faster throttle response though. Diesel tuners on the other hand with 90hp gains is a different story.
