My JK started having problems when I went up an incline. Not a steep one either. When I came back down, I noticed the traction control light on. I stopped and turned off Jeep and reset the light. This is when I noticed the check engine light on. It stayed on for 30 minutes or so and then went off. All of a sudden, on flat surface, the check engine light came on and the jeep turned off. I lost total power and Jeep was heading towards a ditch. Luckily, it stopped. It shut off twice the first day like this.

Took it to dealership and they did not check for a week. No check engine light and they reset the power module anyway. On the way home, check engine light came on. Traction light would come on when crossing any bump, but would reset when Jeep was re-started. Then the engine started bogging down.

Took it back to dealership and they replaced the ABS module and Camshaft Sensor. Jeep was fine for three hours and then the same. Dealership got a new code and called Chrysler. Techs said to replace tappers and rockers in 2 & 5. After this fix, it lasted one hour before it did the same again.

This has gone on since June 6, 2017. It is now July 27th. Dealership says it waiting on a flash. Has anyone else seen this? Anything I can do? Any and I mean any help is greatly appreciated. Talking with Chrysler Resolution since second or third week.

Welcome! That sounds kinda strange. Only thing I can think of, is that there have been some cases in which the negative battery terminal was left loose. Might check that. However, given how many times the dealer has looked at it, I would think that would have been addressed already.

I said the same thing the first day. "Is there a ground loose somewhere"? probably never checked. I still cant believe this turned into engine work.

Now Chrysler techs have informed the dealership to perform 18 different tests. Service manager stated he wanted to replace the PCM.

You need to reset and re-tighten the posts on your battery. This is NOT uncommon but I know of dealers who would miss this for many visits. Always the chance I am wrong but I have seen this very thing about 8 or 9 times on different Jeeps over the last few years. It is usually the ground cable but check them both.

The key here is when you said about hitting a bump... If I am correct, when this happens your gauges will very quickly drop and then come right back to normal.

    Good luck.

Received a call from Chrysler, but of course still no resolution. Called the dealership. PCM was replaced and they took it out for a spin. first time good, second time was about 20 miles and same ole thing happened again. Check engine light came on and they hobbled back to dealership. Engine bogging down and everything still the same. They are waiting now for Chrysler techs to try any other solutions. This has been going on since first took to dealer on June 2nd.

Thanks. I have asked them several times to check to cables or check for a ground somewhere not tight. Said everything has been checked. Now say that a Flash might still fix the problem, even though the PCM was replaced. Im talking with Chrysler about a trade, but they have too cross all the t's and dot the I's. The man hours have to be adding up, besides the rental car Im driving. Besides the tests, they have replaced two rockers, two tappers, and now the PCM. Its now over 60 days since first dropped off, going on 90 days. Feel like Im being held hostage. Questions abound about getting a lawyer, better business bureau, keep biting my tounge.

I was just in my fuse box under the hood to add some electronics and pushed EVERY fuse deeper into the box. I would go through and check as many grounds as you can find. I would also be sure my fuses were seated properly

Today is August 16. The pcm was replaced and still did not work. Now they are replacing the wiring harness from the PCM. 3-5 day order process and then a day or two to install. Still no word from Chrysler on buyback or trade? They now have completed the below:
    1) Reload PCM
    2) Install new Cam Shaft and ABS module and sensor
    3) Replaced tappers and rockers in cylinders 2 & 4
    4) 18 different procedures including fuel pressure check
    5) Replaced PCM
    6) Now replacing wiring harness

This is clearly a lemon. Why Chrysler Fiat is dragging their feet on this I cannot understand why. It is past 60 days going on 90 days.

Wow! It would have been nice if I had been right....but I hope they find the issue soon.

So, since I just can't help but offer advise, here is my next offering.

You may wish to contact your state's Consumer Protection Division. The office can be called different things in different states. Here in Montana, they are attached to the State Attorney General's office but I don't know where you are so can't look it up for you. They may be able to add a little (or a lot) of pressure on Jeep without costing you for an attorney.

Find yourself a good Lemon Law Attorney. In some cases, you will get a full refund on your jeep, plus some extra cash for your traveling expenses. Worth it.

Picked my jeep up on Thursday, September 8th. Replaced the wiring harness and no problems the first day. Hope this works? took over three months for Chrysler Fiat and Quality Motors of Independence to come up with this solution. Not sure what to think with all the other tinkering they did. Chrysler said they would call back on next Wednesday.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you. It would not be the first time I saw a short or break in the harness cause all sorts of havoc.

Hey Steve, I am having the same issue with my jk 2013. What wiring harness did they replace I am taking it back to Chrysler this week and printing this out. They seem pretty clueless to fix this problem and replacing parts that don't need to be replaced.

Has anyone found a resolution to this?

I have a 2013 Wrangler Sahara Auto with the same issue ... its been 3 years of Jeep trying to sort the issue and having cost me over $18,000.

    I have replaced:
    Wheel sensors
    Cam sensors
    Crank sensors
    Wiring harness
    Computer
    Suspension
    All fuses
    Steering sensor

Hell I even changed the suspension and wheels.

Now they want to replace the cam shaft itself ...

    Any advice?
