I have a 2003 jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and I found someone selling 5 tires with rims for good price. My jeep has 245 16 on it and the jeep that these came off is a 2014 jeep wrangler they look the same but not sure if I can use a 17 on mine. Any advice would be appreciated thanks

Just make sure the lug pattern is the same on your GC. Any idea what size the new tires are? I would imagine the 17 inch wheel will work but depending on the size of the tire itself, it might rub the wheel wells if they're too big.

The WJ Grand Cherokee (99-2004) and the JK Wrangler both have a 5 on 5 bolt pattern so you are good there.
Tire size may be an issue though.

    Welcome to the forum.
Also, keep in mind. Going from a 16 inch wheel to a 17 inch wheel, will throw your speedometer off. Your most likely goin to have to look into getting your shifting points recalibrated with your tranny.

Welcome! Assuming the bolt pattern matches and backspacing matches well moving from 16" to 17" is considered a PLUS ONE sizing. Could work in your favor when done right.

So starting to think ahead a bit on eventually changing out wheels(and in the future tires as well).

What I want is 16inch black wheels and eventually 33” tires(not right away) That way I don’t need to lift soon either. Can I still do a 2.5 lift with 16inch wheels later are do I need 17” to be able to lift?

My current tires have Nitrogen in them. So how would I go about swapping these tires(since they are still good) to new wheels to put back on the Jeep? Is this something that can be done or should I just get all new tires with new wheels? Will that be more cost effective, as to swapping only wheels now/tires later?

This doesn't answer your question but I would prefer 17" wheels for the JK as that size works well with brake upgrades and has a wide selection of tires etc

Would I be able to do 17” wheels with 33” tires without having to lift(right away)?

Generally 33s should be fine coupled with aftermarket wheels. If any rubbing should occur it would probably be at full flex situations.

Yea you'd be alright with 17's and a 33 inch tire. The height of the tire wont change but the sidewall will change with different size wheels. IMHO I think 17 inch wheels look the best on jeeps. Whether you got 31 inch tires or 44 inch tires a 17 inch wheel just looks proportional and aggressive at the same time

will go with 17" then(that way if I ever decide on bigger then 33" tires I still have that option as well. Also thinking about 1" spacers as well, can anyone comment on those?

Anyone know where I can get my current tire changed to new wheels if my current tire has nitrogen in it? And how much do they charge if I purchase my own wheels elsewhere?

Just about any tire shop will swap the tires over to the new wheels. Just call around and make sure they have nitrogen if you absolutely need it. If you dont put your rig in the dirt and air down the tires then by all means use nitrogen. But if you plan on wheeling and airing down your tires then I'd save the money and just use regular old air lol. I got nitrogen in my tundras tires and its really nice. It's worth the money if you dont wheel your rig lol

So, does every 17” wheel fit bigger tires?

I finally decided on which one I want and there’s a comment in the reviews saying there was a warning label not to use tires bigger then 31”. Anyone comment that’s more knowledgeable about rims/tires?

These are the one’s I liked and think they would look sick on my silver JKU!

I've never heard of the height of a tire being as much of a problem as the width. Most wheels say not to use a tire no wider than a given number based on the manufacturer. That's a good question. Hopefully somebody can chime in and give a lesson

Here’s a couple more pics. Don’t think I would ever do more then 33” tires anyway so is 31” not that far off in terms of looks? I know the difference is 2” but can you really tell the difference in person or is it not that big a deal?

It’s just, ive looked at 200+ rims before finding one I really like. Ugh. Hope that’s just a generic warning and 33” can still go on these. Or does anyone know of a really similar looking rim that would fit 33” tires?

I think you'd be fine putting 33's on the rims that you like. Theres people who put 37s that are 13 inches wide on the stock wrangler wheels and they say not to put any tire wider than 9 inches or so lol. I dont see any difference it would make. I think you'll be just fine

How do I know which bolt pattern my Jeep has? 6 on 5.5 or 5 on 5?

Should be a 5 on 5 bolt pattern.
