I agree with aggrex. Take a step back and look at the big picture. Sounds like there might be a few issues with that jeep. If I was you I would look a little more and maybe a little further away from your location for a better deal.

Are you looking to go through a dealership so you can trade in your Tacoma, or do you plan to sell that on your own?

Have you heard of search tempest.com. They search Craigslist ads in zip codes/regions you choose. You can open the search up to a couple hundred miles or nationwide.

Also, I have bought a handful of cars, motorcycles, etc on eBay, and have had good luck. I'm not to far from you and can keep my eyes open here.

    Good luck

I only considered trading it because of the offer I got. I could sale it myself as well. I’ve checked numerous online sources to locate a potential Jeep in my area

@Fiesta, depending or not if you are financing you could probably get them to pay for the warranty.

Banks don't really give low APR loans on vehicles with 50k+ miles but you can ask the dealer if they would lower the APR(Annual Percentage Rate) if you added the warranty. When I purchased mine I purchased the 3yr or 40kmiles warranty($1,800) but by doing so my APR was lowered by a whole 1.2pts so basically I was paying like $300 more only for the warranty split through the life of the loan because the APR dropped.

Yeah, I searched for mine for like 3months(the last month I widened my search to 200miles). After widening my search I actually found 2 Jeeps but they sold before I could get out to see them. When I found the 3rd one I was willing to purchase, I drove 2 1/2hrs away for it. I purchased it and dealership was great, they even gave me 2x $25 Visa Gift Cards because of my long drive. Just remember if you are going to go far to look at a Jeep with more miles on it, take someone with you to look the Jeep over(specially the engine). Had my brother in law with me who's a mechanic so he looked it over incase I missed anything. Just something else to think about if you are going to widen your search area. And definitely don't ever buy anything without looking at the carfax first(and stay away if it's been in an accident even minor ones) but remember as well carfax's are for reported accidents so that will eliminate anything major if it doesn't show accidents, but you still want a mechanic or such to look at it because anything minor likely would not have been reported(thus wouldn't show up on a carfax).

I have yet to pull the trigger on Jeep. I've drove and looked at a few. Some certainly better than others still very much so considering one. BUT also in my search I've read many reviews and still can't bring myself around to trusting the reliability. That is the #1 reason I've yet to pull the trigger :infantry:

My '16 doesn't follow any trends the naysayers mention. Every brand has its bad apples some just unevenly reported. Despite Jeep/FCA reputation I acknowledged what I was buying into because it was exactly what I wanted. The only lingering concerns I have are quality service departments when and if I need work performed.
