Quick question Teraflex 2.5" lift with Falcon 2.1 mono tube shocks or Rock Kramer 2.5" lift with Fox 2.0 mono tube shocks.

I don't have anything negative to say about either, but my only experience is with Teraflex.

I installed the TF 2.5" lift on my wife's '16 Willys (wrecked now), my best friend's Jeep and within the last month another friends Jeep. On all of those installations I chose the Rancho control arm brackets to dial in more caster, they've all been about 5 degrees. The brackets do hang down a bit but the one piece design has taken every bit of abuse we've given it.

As far as shocks I've installed that lift with Rancho 5000XL and 9000 adjustable, both have worked great. But to me the Falcons are in a league of their own right now. We run the 3.3 adjustable on both our Jeeps, and I have buddies with the 2.1 and 3.1 that both love them. I ran the FOX 2.0 reservoirs for 60k miles, and it's not a bad shock, but not as good as the Falcons.

Good luck with your decision! :)

You can't go wrong with either lift. BBS is right about the Falcons. Nothing like them out there right now. I still run softrides on my CJ and YJ. Look at Metal Cloaks 2.5 in lift as well. It is my new favorite.

I have no input as to the lift kits. But I have Softrides on my JK now. And had them on my XJ for 13 years. Loved them then, and still do.

Think the difference between your 3" lift vs 2.5" would be enough for the time and/or expense? Upgrading to rock sliders that have a lower step-in section might be beneficial for your situation and still protect the pinch seam.

Wouldn’t that get caught on rocks and whatnot off-roading?

The possibility of snagging on a trail always exists with any step but ease of entry for you as daily driver may take preference. Retractable steps are expensive but one that is not may interest you:
    • It is easy to get into your current Jeep JK with those large tires now as this step lowers your step up into that tall seat by ”. ** Quick Disconnect when OffRoading ** Easy Install ** Class IV Zinc Plating for hazards winter conditions ** Finally an affordable step for your large tires Pull 2 quick disconnect pins and the HIDEASTEP removes easily when you want to go wheelin. Works with or without the stock Rubicon rock rails.

You might look into rock sliders with a step as well. they stay tucked up and give protection at the same time. You can get these angled up as pictured, or have them come straight out for more of a step. I have installed a couple of these and I really like them. The best slider on the market in my opinion and they don't need any drilling into the body. I wish I had known about these when I ordered for my CJ.

I just got my 2008 JKU a month ago and I have been thinking about pulling the trigger on a 2.5 Falcon lift kit. They say they are the best but it is good to hear it from you guys too. Makes my decision that much easier.

Do you mean the Teraflex lift with Falcon Shocks? If not post a link to their webpage. I'm always interested in new products.

Teraflex is one of the best lifts out there, but they require lots of maintenance. I am having to replace all of my teraflex control arm bushings after 42000 miles on them. I have never been in mud. If the 2.5in lift you choose uses the factory control arms you'll be okay. I know a shop that is replacing the teraflex joints at the end of the control arms with Metalcloak ends because the MC ends are lasting much longer. I believe metalcloak lifts start at 3.5in. I just installed the Falcon 2.1 sport shocks on my JKU with 4in lift and 40s and they are the best shock I have ever used on the trails.

Minor point but MC starts with 2.5 and keeps going up to meet your peak jeep spending.

Nope that is a major point. You are correct 2.5in is there starting point. If 2.5in is the height you're looking for, I would definitely order a MC kit of 2.5in without shocks and order the Falcon shocks for 2.5in lift. Both are great lifts just that I have lost faith in the longevity of Teraflex's lift. Despite the ease of replacing the bushings in the video on Teraflex's website, it has taken me 8 hours to replace all of the bushings in the rear of my jeep. I still have the fronts to go. I should have listened to my business partner who does this stuff daily and ordered the metalcloak ends rather than a new Teraflex bushing kit.
