Welcome to the forum jdlyl....you have the most hardest avatar name to remember. But hey. Welcome to the forum.
There is one or two post on this mount. I know....we tend to go topic,so they might be hard to find.
My input. Had mine on the back of the sport cage. Replaced My OEM soft top with a custom fast back and it didn't clear it. So, I'm in the same predicament you are. But...considering a hood mount. Your thoughts??

I have seen them mounted inside on the roll bars.... or on the hood and I hope neither of those comes loose.

Aggrex posted a nice mount or I also like the ones that go along the A pillar. Could also act to protect the windshield some from branches.

I have a high-lift but would rather not use it (ever) :)
I suggest a bottle jack that will fit nicely in the storage under the rear mat.

I'm afraid of externally mounting mine for fear of theft. I am watching to see what ya'll come up with. I have the 60" and it is to big to go inside. I might need to get the 48" but it is less versatile.

I had mine mounted on the back, and locked with. Serious lock. Less than a couple weeks, and it was stolen. Lock was never touched.

You hang out in the wrong towns... I had mine on the back of my Tacoma no lock for 3 years no issues. Also had one mounted on the tailgate of the jk for about a year no lock no theft... you need a nicer part of town my friend!

The old saying, if someone wants it bad enough......

Maybe. There are more Jags, Maserati's. Range Rovers, Vetts, Camaros, etc., around my neighborhood than I can count. I guess this makes it a target.

For the record, this is how I had mine mounted:

    12509778_10207625722913663_2565529293717_6324f6174a5090cafeee5338b9c520e9a144c38a.jpg

They destroyed the mount and hinges to get the jack. Lock was, and still is (use it on the back yard gate) fine. :(

Wow. But as you said. If they want it bad enough.
I liked my inside mount. But not going to switch back to stock soft top just to mount it inside. I like aggrex tail gate mount. But I do like the A pillar mount more. Only issue with that. You cant take your doors off without removing it. I'm kinda leaning towards the hood mount. But then again. If I take my back seat out. I can remount inside, inside the sport cage. Decisions decisions....

I have the teraflex mount on mine. Tried it as a hi-lift mount and wasn't happy, CB reception seemed affected.

After that I mounted the hi-lift on the front bumper, wasn't happy with that because of the diminished light.

Now the teraflex accessory mount holds a rotopax (one 2 gallon is max) and CB antenna.

Currently the hi-lift is on my hood. Honestly it's the last place I wanted to put it, but it just makes sense. It's easy to take off when needed.

Honestly @Blue Baby Sound. The hood was the last place it thought I'd mount mine. But the more I see it, the more I like. It's a cheap easy mount. Easy to get at. And I can always take it off if I plan on leaving me jeep in a bad neighborhood that @chris4x4 chooses to park his in. Lolll.

Great job on the secure install of your Hi-Lift jack. If I ever get one I still like the bumper mounted idea for a few reasons:
    1. no chance of jack hitting the rear glass
    2. tailgating deterrent
    3. poor parallel parking deterrent in the city
    4. complements the overlander look (like yours)
    5. etc

Thanks aggrex. The bumper mount wouldn't work for me because of the rocks and the mud. And when I get stuck and need the crane to lift me off with my D-rings mounted where the jack would go - LOL
