    2 door or 4 door?

2 door you fold the seat forward and release the latching mechanism.
4 door you have to unbolt the seats, I believe the bolts are 18mm.

Welcome aboard! The rear seats in bolt pretty easy. The bolts under the back can be stubborn, so a decent 1/2" drive wrench, and a cheater bar might be needed.

A $39 Chicago Electric electric impact from Harbor Freight works great and I used mine all of the time until for Christmas I received a Dewalt cordless.

Welcome 4x4dude! I have a similar dream in mind if I ever add a JKU to the stable. Wish Jeep made the rear seats ez-to-remove like the 2dr JK. Like what everyone stated the seats are only bolted in. Problem is they will be tough to remove without a cheater bar or better yet an impact wrench. They are torqued down tight along with 4+ years of corrosion. Conceptually this might be how the Wrangler pickup became a possibility. Post pics of your progress.

I've wondered about getting an electric impact. My pneumatic one is at the point it struggles to remove a loose lug nut. :(

It is stronger than some pneumatics and weaker than others. I will say that it is so big that it is hard to use in tight places and won't fit in places like to remove the Ubolts on a jeep. I ended up buying another pneumatic stubby for tight spots. After using my dewalt 1/2in impact I'm sold on cordless, and I will be adding a 3/8in and 1/4in cordless soon.

Can't remember the last time using the electric DeWalt impact wrench after I made the switch to the Milwaukee M18. The electric DeWalt is strong (300 ft-lb) but heavy, big and awkward. The Milwaukee M18 impact wrench is also heavy and big but is even more powerful (up to 700 ft-lbs of maximum fastening torque, 1,100 ft-lbs of nut-busting torque).

WOW! Had no idea those cordless ones could hit those torque numbers!! I'll probably get another pneumatic one, as I already have a compressor and OBA. And they seem to be cheaper

@chris4x4. Seems like quite the studder you got there. Dont worry. You should grow out of it. :)

Welcome to the forum 4x4dude. I've been contemplating doing the same. Just without the storage. So please post pics if you could.

Same as Chris4x4. I was not aware of the power a cordless can have. Looks one of my next upgrades to my JK will be a cordless impact wrench.

DeWalt-Makita-Milwaukee-Bosch, etc all make good cordless power tools. Start or stick with the brand you invested in as most brands have impact wrenches in their lineup.

Got a JK but can see the value in a JKU/JLU one day. Goose gear makes some neat innovative products for sleeping in the JKU...just a bit spendy. Kudos to the innovator.
