98 Grand Cherokee engine fit a 97 Wrangler?

    Can a 98 Grand Cherokee Laredo engine fit on a 97 Wrangler gearbox

    Howell fuel injection, header, HEI distributor, TH350, NP208, SOA lift with YJ springs in the front & GW springs in the Rear. AMC20 with G2 1 piece chromos trussed, Dana 30 with G2 chromos and 760x ujoints and MM Stainless Hubs, Geared 4.56. Tom Woods shafts, Metal cloaks, Caged, 37" Toyo MTs.
    Depends on what motor. If it is the 4.0 it should be the same motor. I am not sure what you would have to do to get the 5.9 to fit, but I do have a friend that did do a 5.9 swap into a TJ. I should ad that if you have a 2.5 motor in the wrangler the 4.0 will not bolt up.

    Thanks offgrid yes I do have a 2.5 motor i might have to reconsider this swap

    06 wrangler 4.0 6speed
    5" lift, 4.11 gears, tru-trac limited-slips, winch, bumbers... you know the rest.
    Not that this helps at all but I always wanted to do a 4.7 HO v8 swap in my tj. I think if you are going to spend the time and effort into it might as well go big and the 4.7 has parts everywhere so it can be done cheaply.

    IMO for the jeep cubic inches matter as HP+torque will be improved with little change in MPG. Go big

    If you do a 4.0 swap, try to find a 4.0 and tranny out of a jeep that someone is replacing with a bigger swap, or find a wrecked donor and pull the motor and tranny over for the swap. You will also need the ecm, motor mounts, belly pan (tranny mount), and likely the driveshafts. I usually recommend people to sell their current jeep and go find one with a 4.0. I believe that the 5.9 is a relatively easy swap into the 4.0 TJ. I have never done it, but again my buddy did it in a weekend and said it wasn't too bad.
